Memphis Volunteer Week #ShareYourService: Mark Harden

Volunteer Odyssey is grateful for all the amazing people giving back to the Memphis community. This week is Memphis Volunteer Week and we want to highlight some of our amazing volunteers and their stories.

Our friend Mark Harden is an avid Memphis volunteer. He volunteers at the Memphis Humane Society, Memphis Pets Alive!, Memphis Animal Services, Woof River Rescue, Youth Villages, Volunteer Odyssey’s VolunCheers, and so many more.

Mark volunteers because he loves helping those in need. He also says volunteering has enriched his own life in many ways. “I have made lifelong friends—too many to count. I’m friends with many people who have adopted cats and dogs—even all the way up to New Jersey & Boston area. I’m very grateful for all the friends I’ve met and all the lessons I’ve learned through trying to view life through someone else’s eyes.”

Mark’s passion for the community has even inspired his co-workers and employer. “At my work, I am pretty much known as the go-to animal person or volunteer person. I’ve even gotten a few organizations on our parent company’s yearly grant program. My work has also held multiple fundraisers and volunteer projects for local nonprofits.”

Mark encourages you to volunteer because there is nothing like the feeling of helping someone in need and letting them know that someone cares.
